Manager – Clarington Carstar Collision

Summary & Qualities

The Body Shop Manager is responsible for overseeing all operational aspects of our Carstar Collision Center with a knowledge of high-quality collision repair. The manager is responsible for providing customers with timely and friendly appraisals, with the ultimate goal of closing the sale to maintain a high closing ratio. The manager must have a good understanding of insurance claims procedures and policies communicating with the adjuster and customer regarding the repair status of the vehicle. Responsibilities include the managing of the production of workflow, overseeing the completion of all repair within expected target dates while achieving productivity, profitability, and exceptional customer service. It is imperative the manager possess a good work attitude creating a team spirit in support of the company and fellow employees

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the facility, its employees and customer relations
  • Maintain relationships with our insurance partnerships by ensuring all guidelines are adhered to.
  • Inspect qualified vehicles and write damage appraisals.
  • Informs customers about CARSTAR’s repair process, including insurance claims processing, payment procedures, repair techniques, repair needs and expected delivery date of repair.
  • Responsible for maintaining positive relationships with insurance agents, dealerships, fleet accounts and other customers.
  • Keeps insurance adjusters, production staff and customers informed regarding the status of the vehicle repair. Write supplements and negotiates with insurer.
  • Responsible for keeping all assigned Repair Order (RO) current and accurate throughout the repair process.
  • Inspects all completed repairs before delivering customer vehicles, explains CARSTAR’s warranty and Quality Control process with all customers.
  • Oversee ordering of auto Parts and body shop supplies.
  • Review work orders, assigns tasks to employees and verify the quality of work performed.
  • Conduct effective store meetings to train and keep employees informed of upcoming events and goals.
  • Resolve all customer-related and employee complaints.
  • Recruit, interview and hire new employees to ensure adequate staffing.
  • Oversee the training, development, corrective action of all employees.

Experience/Skill Requirements

  • 2 – 5 years experience in Management experience in a collision facility.
  • prior experience as a collision estimator or insurance appraiser
  • Fluent in Estimating Software (Audatex and/ Mitchell)
  • I-CAR training or other industry training preferred.
  • Work independently without close supervision
  • Flexible/adaptable to constant change
  • Strong tact and diplomacy; ability to interact with all levels of personnel
  • Highly organized; ability to handle multiple concurrent assignment
  • Developed reasoning/problem solving skills; analytical and decision-making skills

Estimator

JOB SUMMARY

The Estimator is responsible for greeting customers, providing accurate automotive repair estimate. In addition, the appraiser must handle communications with insurance adjusters and throughout the repair process maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Greet customers promptly and in a timely manner to accurately determine customer’s needs while ensuring a high degree of customer service.
  • Inspects, analyzes, and evaluates damaged vehicles to create an accurate estimate of repair.
  • Informs customers about CARSTAR’s repair process, repair techniques, repair needs and expected delivery date of repair.
  • Responsible for maintaining positive relationships with insurance agents, dealerships, fleet accounts and other customers.
  • Keeps insurance adjusters, production staff and customers informed regarding the status of the vehicle repair. Write and upload supplements and final estimates upon completion of repairs.
  • Responsible for keeping all assigned Repair Order (RO) current and accurate throughout the repair process.
  • Inspects all completed repairs before delivering vehicle providing final contact with customer upon delivery. .
  • Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE / SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • 1-3 years prior experience as a collision estimator or insurance appraiser.
  • Prior damage analysis experience – hybrid vehicles, restraint systems, electrical systems, and identifying hail, theft and vandalism damage.
  • Experience with collision management systems (CCC, MRC).
  • Fluent using Mitchell Connect and Audatex software
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • I-CAR training or other industry training preferred.
  • History of working independently without close supervision.
  • Strong sales and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.

  • Serti Dealer Software Experience an asset but not mandatory
  • Strong computer skills are required
  • Detail oriented and good communication skills
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn and succeed
  • Perform other related duties as required by management.
